Curved Staircase- If your staircase is actually curved, you will most likely have to purchase a custom stairlift. Curved stairlifts end up costing considerably more than a stairlift designed for a straight staircase. This is because a curved stairlift must be custom fit to the curve of your staircase. A custom stair lift usually takes about 3-4 weeks for us to order and install.

Straight staircases with landings and 90 degree turns-  Customers have two choices.  They can choose a custom curved stairlift that will go up, around the turn, and all the way to the top without getting up halfway.  This is the best solution, but the more costly.  On some staircases it is possible to install two straight stairlifts, instead of going with a curved stairlift. This is called a double installation and will only work if the stair case is shaped like an ‘L’ and has a 90-degree bend. It also needs to have a landing in the middle. When going with a double installation, you will install a straight stairlift onto each leg of the ‘L.’ Many times this alternative works, and it is far less expensive than a curved stairlift. The double installation allows for you to have a stair solution set up very quickly as opposed to 3-4 weeks for a custom curved lift.  The only down side is the customer must be able to transfer from one stairlift to another.
